Auspicing
Supporting local not-for-profits to apply for funding from other giving entities.
Many community groups and not-for-profit organisations in the Yarra Valley are doing vital work for the community, but are not Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR1) charities. This can make it difficult to access grants from giving entities such as philanthropic trusts, foundations, and corporate donors.
The Yarra Valley Community Foundation can help by acting as an auspice for eligible projects, opening doors to funding that would otherwise be out of reach.
This guide explains how auspicing works, when it can be used, and how we can support you to prepare a strong, competitive grant application.
Auspicing is a simple, trusted way for local groups to access funding they otherwise couldn’t apply for. The Foundation, as a tax deductible charity, receives grant funds from the donor and “on-grants” funds to you as the successful applicants.
The Foundation will work with you to ensure the donor’s conditions for the grant and proposed use of the grant funds are complied with. You will be required to provide an acquittal for the use of the funds.
The Foundation retains an amount of the grant funds (2%) but may retain a higher sum if the donor requires increased levels of management and administration in relation to the grant.
